Crimson and gold are colors so bold they jump out and shout 'Hello' to you. Greens and blues can be cold or cool, like icy blue streams and pillowy green moss, or scrumptious plump blueberries near swaying willow trees of pea-soup green, that turn sunny gold when days become cold. Red raspberries sweet and yummy with milk will fill up your tummy with such happiness and warmth you would think they were as yellow as banana peels or tart lemon. Of course there are so many other flavors and scents that color our world, it takes a rainbow of tasty treats, the kind that fall from windy wrappers after a thunderous rainstorm to begin to describe the color wheel. And the aurora borealis? I call it my Rainbow Dancing Lights, for the blues, greens, reds and purples that swirl and dance amid soft creamy whites in winter's midnight blue Arctic sky are such a magnificent color ballet, if I could I would send one your way today to encircle your body and soul with soft, warm golden dreams. Shadows scream overhead as two Canadian geese arrive too late for Spring Break. Touchdown in Creamer’s Field ends all too soon, for the geese are quickly chased from the end zone by a tenaciously territorial eagle. Wet snow still covers much ground. Sudden warm winds bring warmth and rain, flooding both field and street and we end up trudging along in wet pant legs and muddy feet. Winter laughs, scorns the spring rain, comes back around to tease us with fresh dump of snow, again. But it’s only a matter of time and temperature before winter gets tucked into memory. Still, no sign of cheery red robin, truest harbinger of northern latitudes, annual adjuster of attitudes. Vibrant green blades of grass poke their heads up in the corral. Proud Mother Moose with new calf wanders through my front yard, nibbling on tender new willow shoots. Spring lifts her sleepy head slowly in the misty morning dew. Rejuvenation. Hope springs, eternally renewed. 'Tis time to bid Lady Aurora adieu. Soon it will be too light at night for my rainbow of dancing lights. The midnightsun will soon takeover the sky, and on the longest day, the summer solstice, 2002 this midnitesun shall fly away, bidding this northern latitude adieu. Following a heart’s quest and new horizons, she heads south, to the Rockies of the West. But the screaming shadows of Canadian geese will always bring her thoughts back home to the heart of Alaska, no matter how far she may roam. Rain-bowed sounds surround searching souls, filling the sky with parallel bands of harmony, dressed up in nature’s magnificent finery, red, orange, and yellow cascading alongside green, indigo, blue violet, as a bending light beam screams past my eyes, encircles itself inside, opens the corridors of my ears, that I may hear the pure unadulterated sounds of love’s light reflecting, refracting, enveloping me within the sounds of glorious color harmony. Rain-bowed sounds fill the awakening sky, layering parallel bands of harmony, like splayed fingertips of humanity revealing that Life is a Maestro’s primary orchestrated song, played out in the keys of a One reality. Life itself, is the prime opus, a celebration of unity in diversity, and the rainbow is the main refrain. Have you ever sat silently still in the stillest of the night, and stared out the window at the glory of an Arctic northern light? In the shadows of the northern March moon the shape of the barn and corral follow, in swoon. If you watch for a while patiently you can see the shadows in movement in the snow below. It's SPRING! It says so on my calendar. And the air shouts out in anticipated warmth from a low angled sun in the early morn, and shadows disappear leaving only the fences and the whispering birch trees, as the sun climbs a bit higher each day. And I know warmer days are on the way. I sit at my window and wait for the cry of the loon on the lake, for the egrets and Canadian geese to fly overhead. And when Mr and Mrs Robin set up residency (the harbingers of Spring) they are my guarantee that winter is finally passed, for now. And when Spring finally arrives I find myself fondly remembering the snow, and at the same time I search the skies for the midnitesun of summer's glow. And summer brings so many thrills, I hardly notice when the leaves begin to fall it is almost Fall. And when snow falls, again in winter skies of longest nights, I look out again for the shadows dancing underneath the aurora, my Rainbow of Dancing Lights. This is for my friend Jaime in Denver. |

There is so much to be said, i assume you didnt do this in one sitting (the content dictates that not the length) it is wonderful and worthy of the seasons of the arctic land. I am the two-toed wanderer |
