And I can say is, Thank You

Young or Old, there will be a time
to capture in mirrored wide smiles
given me, because I will know
now is the time;

Now is the time
for it has been shortened
to a knowledge of longevity;
and in that
I cannot find any weakness;
I must not find any weakness.

To recognize time is short;
count blessings and remembering
only good times;
count, count them, count all,
and I find you, you, and you again…
I touch your shoulder, once more,
I lay my hand upon your arm, tenderly,
fold you into a warm embrace, and
I do it with knowledge that it is
the last time.

To let you know, now, that life
is in need, rightfully so,
of living, dancing, laughing,
embracing, and giving back all
of the good that has been given you;

and if I held life,
tight fisted and fearful, before love….
it would just shatter

like fine crystal

As would love, herself.

Thank you, life, for loving me enough
to let me skip in dappled moments
that no one should ever
forget.
