I’d love to write music and conjure a song
But each time I try, the thing turns out wrong
I haven’t a talent or gift to design
A wonderful vocal that I could call mine

The notes aren’t in English and cords lose their way
I haven’t the faintest of what they might say
And as for the tools I could use as my trade
The sound of frustration is all that I’ve made

I once learnt guitar, for a week, maybe two
I wished that I’d learnt what a few more could do
For all of the sounds that I play cause concern
A trait of impatience and why I don’t learn

I wish that the music and notes would all come
I’ve waited and waited, but still there is none
I sang in the car at the top of my voice
But no one would listen when given the choice

I know that the song that I sing will be mine
Though each sound I make is so raw in design
But nothing will stop what I yearn and I crave
The song of a poet, to sing to the grave

Raw form, like coal
produces a new heat...
and diamonds.

Sing away, Rick.
We're listening!

Rick~
Sometimes the music
stays just out of reach
until that chasm of doubt
is breeched~

Then it will come
filling your heart with song
Hoping when it does
you'll let us sing along~

Rick,
You write the lyrics, now you just need the tune. I love this and have similar wishes.
