fear stepped into the room

Probing deep into the soul
dangers protrude obsessive
like a precision maneuver
dark & wickedly eager
to penetrate what time
had blacked out

squirming maggots indulging
on the most
ancient of tongues...
snapping slit seconds
like the far side of bone
from the eternal place
of ghost ships
with drive by shootings
of malignant flesh
tearing down
invisible boundaries they
were not allowed to cross

drawing irresistible impulses
painted on mind chatter
black tides
of some foreboding
connection
to interlocking mysteries
an ocean with manicured nails
monsters of children
seeping into
that scratching feeling
of demise
sytax of a sing-song kind of
desert heat
burning any assurance of tomorrows
dripping down my face
with the g-force of carnage
black evil liquid
seeping into my veins

trying to make sense
of a world gone mad
evoking forensic imperfections
making pacts with Satan
foreshadowed
in a meaty elixir of death
by the inheritance of lethal intent

how old is old,
hummed the floodlight of soul
where white flashes
of food stores
draw empty blanks
within the dream rooms
of sanity

pinning me
to one outside chance
dangling by a thread
gripping with
strong hand like mists
seemingly unreachable
babbling like some hopeless
unappreciated love
in this place of darkness
where thickening air
delivers a cold ambience
the shrill screams of
black crow’s with naked tattoos
circling around me
coming in for the kill

stalking
seeking
custody
of my floating silliness
long black fingers
of drowning sorrows
where moonlight fears vanish

I search
the black doorway of space
like a blind man
fingering words
from
the
disembodied
voice of the invisible
standing right there
in front of whatever it was
I consumed as life
sucking imagination from the chaos

my after life
frowns impatiently
the insensitivity of me hangs
onto the cool clean waters of life
& the incoherent rings
of mortal instinct
being torn from me

the bony hand of assault
staring with
a hollow black eye
void of any
gestures of compassion

time well spent
at the bottom of the ocean
I am not cursed
for the bitter setback of painful memories
I am the predecessor
of broken windows
they bring with them,
some earnings of light
glinting a half open gate
crumbling plaster walls
the chocking stench
of broken mountains
soon....
lavender will be everywhere
stronger and ultimately irresistable

trying dark poetry...

Perhaps, therein lies the real danger, Lee.
I've come to the conclusion lately
that all my attempts to figure out the mindset
of humanity as a whole
is nearly pointless.
so I seek the heart
of individuals....
in doing so, I've come across some amazing hearts and minds,
yours being one of them.
NAMASTE, dear friend.

My God!

"the bony hand of assault
staring with
a hollow black eye

That got to me more than the maggots.  What an incredible poem!

you guys are to kind...and you warm my heart to boot...thanks to all of you for stopping by...and Margie...the movie was great...Davy Jones and his crew were fantastic, a hoot! Don't close your eyes, look for the details, pretty amazing costumes and special effects, Oh Gwad, I love that man in his Pirate get up!!!...it was a fun movie, enjoy, take a friend, pack a lunch, a bottle of wine...

Hey, wouldn't that be a great idea for a movie theater, you could pac a picnic basket?     Course, that would kinda ruin their gain of 10.00 per person for popcorn and a soda...sheesh, what could I have been thinking?

Thanks again folks

Well, this one certainly went to some "depth"
of imagination...

You sure you didn't have a hand in writing
Pirates?

Well done, LeeJ...especially when you can
get readers' true reactions...

but in the future, you may want to denote {not for breakfast reading)...

That's funny, the maggots didn't bother me at all. I guess I saw enough of 'em last year to become inured.

Your writing is always a trip into the subconscious, and what a trip it is!

Your visuals are always intriguing, and I confess sometimes I don't "get them" with the whole of the poem, but then when I take the time to consider them alone, then I find a link to a them.

and this:

"black evil liquid
seeping into my veins"

reminded me of a favorite Grand Funk Railroad song--inside out looking out--

"Ice cold water runnin'
through my veins"

nod

fear

it does that, doesn't it?

Love ya lady! enjoyed, and yep, even the maggots! (They are used medicinally again now, did you know that?) And I happen to know a guy who could use some maggot medicine on HIS tongue, for all the words he speaks are like dead, rotting meat. (see how I personalize the connections? )

and now I'll re-read Kacy's wise reply and try to apply it.
