Self -(E)steamed

hard to believe the words that
can come from some men's mouths
the prejudices that show
and the hateful sounds
that show a woman hater
from inside his being

could forgive once but never again
for life has more to offer
than listening to someone
so unhappy that a normal conversation
cannot be had

those words still sting
those mouth sounds
cling to my skin,
even a hot soaking cannot relieve today

because words can be both soothing
and yet so destructive...

this brought a smile,
isn't it perfect to come to this point in life, kinda like opening up your wings and flying for the first time...

this is why I kinda doubt the words of the
Bible,

b/c these men...thought of women the very same way...

Women were not meant to be surpressed or judged as the lesser of the species,  yanno?

yet, so so many cultures, did and still do, submit to this belief?  Why?  What in the world were men afraid of?  Is this alter ego...to me, this was the first sign of prejudice...not to mention, can you imagine, burning women at the stake for having a voice...like I've always said, If I'd been alive back then, I'd be ashes...

Excellent write, you've got my attention...can you imagine the men who think like this, what they are missing?  Pity...and yes, indeedy, words can kill, the heart, mind and soul, not to mention, the flesh

could forgive once but never again
for life has more to offer
than listening to someone
so unhappy that a normal conversation
cannot be had

AMEN!

YOU deserve so so much more...and believe in the old saying, beware of the wolf bearing gifts, or something like that...one that is way flattering, they practice on who they think are needy women, or women on the rebound, or young young women who know no better...and there are so many good intellegent, allowing men out there who would not be intimidated by your strength, but more so, would be complimented by it....

Well there pretty much isn't anything I can say that LeeJ hasn't already said other than that this is quite the thought provoking piece.

Oh and amen to you for speaking the truth.

True of both men and woman, Maureen.  Words need care in giving...I'm sorry they've hurt you.
