A couple of weeks ago my daughter asked me to write a couple of dog to dog poems for her to enter into a dog contest on one of the sites she visits....I had a blast doing them and thought I would share them with all of you in the hope that they bring a smile to your face....enjoy...*Her dog Sheen had just started her heat*..
Sheena, Queen of My Heart
Raising my head I sense you are near As your scent reaches this cavalier My nose begins twitching with delight I emit a growl of appetite
Don’t flirt with me Queen of my heart With glossy coat around me you dart By flashing eyes and wagging your tail Leaving a beckoning perfume trail
I must be fed of that which I crave Waiting for you I try to be brave Before my drool saturates the ground Please don’t reject your royal hound
So come dear Sheena, Queen of my heart And smile while enjoying our simple part
Kirby, My Hazel-eyed King
Looking deep into your flashing eyes Passion touches and electrifies I am drawn like a moth to a flame Knowing this is no romantic game
Your low growl sets me all a quiver In your paws my heart I deliver I can’t resist the pull of my heart Our future course is for us to chart
Breathing your scent still tickles my nose While I’m loving your commanding pose I am a wild feast set before you For to you I will always be true
Dearest Kirby, my Hazel-eyed King For you alone my night howl will sing

this was fun, creative and amusing, takes one's flesh away from the everyday schedules and mundane affairs of life, into a whitty writing, that shall we say, lifts us into the worlds of our pets...
well done, enjoyed this a lot

These are delightful poems! What a cute Mom you are!
Though I have no confidence with dogs, sometimes I cross their eyes and get a feeling of instant connection.

Karen, this is a very cute write. I have no doubt that your daughter appreciated it. Hopefully others did as well.

Big smiles. What dog could resist such passionate jesters as these and, really now, how many dogs actually do write poetry? Not many! Your dogs are bound to get their dates for sure.
I love the word choices you've made here.
I do wish that the dogs in my neighborhood would cool it a bit with the night howls though. Again, Big Smiles.
Enjoyed reading.
