Love is lost through a mirror of time passages A heart is strangled in the heat of passion What once was tenderness is now a deadly game What used to be truth is now sheltered shame There was a time when love was given with grace Fooled by illusions now sex takes its place What used to take time to create and a need to care Takes no more than a drink and a body to bare Taken over by sexual temptation An act of love becomes just a situation To whom it is made is irrelevant As long as it is made love may stay distant But on a long and lonely night It is shame’s candle burning bright Until true love’s candle is lit with honest desire Any spark that may occur will never be fire Original written July 25, 1990 by Melody Lyn Graham Aka Lyn Eagleton |
