Well, I've done alot of livin' in this body I've been given; And I pray I've got alot of livin' left. Whatever's in that Great Beyond is going to be there when I'm gone; I won't spend my life fretting on my death. In the sweet by and by, there's a mansion up on High; That's the words that I heard the preacher say. Well, that's fine for when I'm dead, But until then, Jesus said I should try to keep my focus on today. Today, I'm doing fine. There's alot of things of mine that fell short in the measure of their worth. But a quiet fishing hole sure does wonders for my soul; And there's a little bit of Heaven, here on earth. Theres a Deacon on my trail and every Sunday, without fail, he comes to say the Lord is on his way. It almost seems a waste of breath 'cause the Lord aint never left. He fills my life with blessings everyday. You can tell me how he died, but to me, he's still alive. I'm a witness to my little baby's birth. Sometimes when I rest, baby sleeps upon my chest; And there's a little bit of Heaven, here on earth. It's the little things I see, that bring great joy to me. It's the simple things that bring me peace of mind. I love Life's simple pleasures and one of Life's greatest treasures is a bright red tomato on the vine. I'm just a simple man, who understands the simple plan, of being granted "LIFE" more abundantly. I can question things I've heard, but when the good Lord gives his word, I dont need to be assured redundantly. I've enjoyed this wondrous dream, all that IS and all that seems; And ever since the moment of my birth, every joy and trial I've faced was a precious gift, from grace, of a little bit of Heaven, here on earth. |

You may be a "simple" man, but your poetry rocks! ~ and I like who you are! Kudos on being YOU ~ and for sharing yourself and your little bit of heaven here on earth, with this rapt reader! EA |
