CLICHÉS

There are things said by some people
For instance, time will heal all
And there's got to be a bottom to
The depths that one can fall
It only hurts a little while
Before pain goes away
If you want to hear the piper
Then you must expect to pay
Dreams can be realities
If you've will to make them true
You can not change your destiny
It's written in the stars for you
True love knows no boundaries
It is vowed until life's end
In that 50/50 deal
Where sometimes you'll have to bend
All is fair in love and war
Long as you’re on the winning side
It's a virtue to be humble
But don't ever lose your pride
Sometimes you must eat crow
It's either famine/feast
And in every human being
Lurks the part that hides the beast
The grass is always greener
There's a fork in every road
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
Or you tote a heavy load
Into each life some rain must fall
When it rains, it pours
There's the calm before the storm
Then there's hell to pay, of course
Light at the end of the tunnel
The dark before the light
Three ways you can do things
My way, your way, the right
Between a rock and a hard place
A rolling stone gathers no moss
Sticks and stones may break my bones
Unkind spoken words, your loss
No one likes a penny pincher
A penny saved, a penny earned
If you get too near the fire
Chances are, you will get burned
A rose for a rose
All those daisy petals pulled
The heart can still be warm
Even when the hands feel cold
The last one in the line
At the head of the class
A thorn in your side
Or a pain in the ass
Hell no, we won't go
Give me liberty or death
Asking for salvation
With our last and final breath
A bird held in the hand
Is worth two in the bush
Behind each successful man
There's a good woman there to push
Reaching the end of your rope
Hanging by a thread
Pens mightier than swords
Those things you wish you'd said
If you tell me no stories
Then I'll tell you no lies
There is no place like home
There's the sorrow of goodbyes
Beauty seen by the beholder
Who's the fairest of them all?
Don't call me, I'll call you
Or, I'm at your beck and call
Love makes the world go 'round
Trying to grab brass ring
Stop the world and let me off
You can't have everything
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Can't have your cake and eat it too
Some were born to wander
And some will see it through
Still water runs cold and deep
So don' t you rock the boat
Rats abandoning a sinking ship
Trying to keep the ship afloat
There's the job worth doing well
If it's worth doing at all
Pretending you don't hear me
I'm at your beck and call
See the forest for the trees
From a bird's gilded cage
In an ivory tower
Or front and center stage
Striking out and scoring
Standing in the batter's box
A fool and his money parted
Yeah, he's crazy, like a fox
Silence can be golden
You should think before you speak
Lands of presidents and kings
To be inherited by the weak
The end of the rainbow
Where you'll find that pot of gold
Lifetimes searching for the fountain
That keeps you from growing old
As cuddly as a kitten
The hair of the dog that bit
You've got to like yourself first
So don't throw a hissy fit
On the wings of a dove
Flying high or running low
Don't try to change my mind
Tell me things, I don't already know
Hell-bent on destruction
As smooth and slick as silk
Memories of the times they said,
"At least drink all your milk."
As strong as the tall oak tree
Weeping willows in the breeze
You must crawl before you walk
Mind your manners, thank you, please
There's the little white lie
I swear I'll never lie again
Winners never cheat
And cheaters never win
It's a vicious cycle
And paybacks can be hell
All the times when we aren't
We say, "Yeah, I'm doing well!"
Once upon a time
Living in a fairy tale
Try and try once again
If at first you fail
No one likes a bully
Till you try, you'll never know
Don't rush head long into something
It's better to take it slow
The clichés  go on and on
And it's hard comprehending
That like the circle of a ring
This story has no ending.
