She felt red rose’s petals fall — So silent, not a single sigh — And in her soul a doleful call, A crystal stain upon her eye.
Oh, why the tear - he’d cold declare - For it is not your love to mourn; So do not weep in false despair And others’ foreign love forlorn.
Oh, but Lord, just how to tell — Those petals broken off her heart And drifted down an endless well — Now she and him forever part.
