Mountains rising up from velvet valleys below Streams where crystal waters come from deep winter snows Men with skin of bronze leaving nature alone Honoring the landscape that they use as their home White deer tails and hillside trails and fern waving fronds Redbud trees of lavender and still summer ponds Canopies of poplar trees where sweet laurel grows Where crystal white waters come from deep winter snows Is this the place where my soul came to rest? Is this the garden that is sacred and blessed? Is this the kingdom God has promised to me ? Have I gone to heaven yet Or of this just how I imagine Heaven to be? Meadows filled with wild flowers blooming all summer long Small downy ducklings growing lovely and strong Amber sheaves and willow leaves that dance in the wind Tunes of little meadow larks that tumble within Pathways that meander through the blue mountain range Children unaware of how the seasons will change This has been the paradise that colors their dreams Where prints of little creatures melt to crystal white streams Is this the place where my soul came to rest? Is this the garden that is sacred and blessed? Is this the kingdom God has promised to me? Have I gone to heaven yet Or of this just how I imagine Heaven to be? Don’t tell the children what is looming ahead Don’t tell the women what the prophet has said Let them see exquisite things in beautiful dreams Let them frolic freely in the cool mountain streams Elizabeth Santos |

That's great. Your repeating stanzas make everything that much more effective. |

Always thrilled to see your name--you have such freshness and purity in your writing. Thank you for the lovely walk through the wildflowers. "Let them see exquisite things in beautiful dreams Let them frolic freely in the cool mountain streams" miscellanea |

...Saved faster than you can say "Heavenly"! Liz, your beautiful spirit shines through every line of this divinely glorious poem! The second read through was especially enjoyable because I took the time to visualize and experience each vividly described image! The first time through I read it quickly because I wanted to read what was coming next! I virtually sped-read it! This poem is a gift to all who read it! Have a heavenly day! Liz "Don’t tell the children what is looming ahead Don’t tell the women what the prophet has said Let them see exquisite things in beautiful dreams Let them frolic freely in the cool mountain streams" I am picturing you as a little girl, frolicing in the stream, No-name! Loved this poem, love you! |

I loved it. It is like a song-poem. I have 8 poems that are song-poems. Yours is beautiful. |
