Love Is Not A Rose |

Love is not a rose, pretending to be, something it is not, No, it is a dadelion, a weed, stomped, crushed, unnoticed, blown by the winds, Looseing all its shape, form, giving all of itself, freely, until there is nothing left, Oh, the rose does tempt, with beauty, bright, soft petals of velvet red, Leaving an intoxicating fragrance, what is left when the petals fall? the rose, all but fades, wilts. The dandelion remains, sacrificing her life, she scatters her seeds, by the breath of the wind, in hopes that love, will one day, blossom again. J. M. Barrie, the playwright, may have said it best when he wrote, “God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.” [This message has been edited by A Romantic Heart (01-26-2006 08:56 AM).] |

~sigh~ but both can be enjoyed. Most people would pluck the rose first of course. But dandelion leaves are more nutritious! Hope all is well, ARH. |

Don't get me wrong, I love roses, but love is more than romance, it is the everyday, simple things that are hidden in the backgroud that we take for granted~ Thanks Kacy for your reply~I agree! ~ARH |

True... dandelions sow the seed to the wind, and their amber flowers reflect the glory of nature...they are truly wild...a rose is a cultivated beauty...that if nurtured will burst blooms beautifully for many years...while it blooms it is as free as the dandelion....each equally glorious to the eye of God and man combined...thank you for the words.. Goldenrose. Desire for nothing except desirelessness, hope for nothing except to rise above all hopes, want nothing and you will have everything.avatar Meher Baba. |

I like being free and wild blowing in the wind like the dandelion, instead of being cultivated...LOL yes I agree, both are to be enjoyed, but sometimes when we pick beauty over the heart, we miss the mark, true love gets tossed aside..unoticed! Thank you Phil xxxx |

This is a beauty poem its kind of amazing when you blow the seeds away that some cling on as if it knows that death awaits in its awakening |

Now I like the poem, understand the point, but what about the sunflower? Standing so nice and tall and all with lots of seeds to spread and feed the birds, why not write a nice poem of the sunflower; I sure someone with your talent ( and beauty ) could do that easily. |

Intriguing write. True, red rose may be cultivated, toward an ideal, as an ‘ideal’ love is cultivated or presented in a similar manner. As the life of a rose may be ever so fleeting, so is the ‘ideal’ love sung about in songs and exalted in poetry and plays. But in a real life, an enduring love is really more like the dandelion - tenacious, deep-rooted, persistent. The rose attracts. Dandelion persists. Perhaps these are all but different stages of love. Frankly, I prefer the dandelion. Free, strong, independent...and still beautiful. Who needs high maintenance, anyway? LOL CG |
