The Child in the Mirror When I looked into the shards of broken glass the eyes of a child stared back at me her bright blue orbs not dulled by hard times and as I saw the joy once contained in time I solemnly smiled at what had went by Then as I turned around the child had changed Instead of the brightness that had once shone on through there was the face of a shadow dulled with the weather And just with one blink I caught a surprise replaced by a smile, the terror was gone but as the light hit the smile turned smirk and with its' evil cackle a quiver shook my soul Turning into my satan I fell to his flames silently weeping, my cheek grazed the glass and as the blood seeped,my tears mixed on in combining to make a river of mud And just as I turned and started to fade the shards came together and were made whole once agian So just when you think that what's broken is gone don't give up, but pick up the pieces of your life ---------------------------- Oh and critiques are always welcome! Jill, It's obvious that a lot of thought was put into this write. Not all of it comfortable but all of it important and understandable. Though seldom do we like to visit our pain. I thought this was well done and deserved to not be neglected. My only critique, since you asked, is that: "I solemnly smiled at what had went by" should read: "I solemnly smiled at what had gone by" If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, |
