Not off to the side but plumb in the middle of a cumulus cloud double bed lies all the hope of women and men drifting, drifting, silently away from a pleading reach.
Puffed up with the will to entice the wrinkles of age disappear to make us believe it’s virulent, young, and able to handle the drop from the sky of ideals to reality with one invisible leap.
But hope can’t transmute and commute between two imaginary points un-surveyed and forever unmapped in the mind of a woman like me because it’s too large and imposing to be held in the palm of a hand.
I see you, hope, reclining at ease with me as a servant to please by giving and sending my energy every day to the sky of ideals ~ and why, what for, when pie in the sky is all you are and will ever be?

Helen
loved the bit of playfullness at the end of this...but wondering...
"because it’s too large and imposing to be held in the palm of a hand."
how come I see it there even though it may not be the whole darn thing?

Well, at least there aren't any calories in pie in the sky! Your poems are multi-layered and very intriguing ~ just like you!

Thanks to all for reading and for commenting. Yes, I guess hope's always partly in the background somewhere even if we can't hold it in its entirety. Some people have small hands and some are ... addicted to pies.
