While some may speak of idols carved of wood or stone,
symbolic figures made by hands of flesh and bone,
that men did worship out of fear more than respect,
might there be more which holds the power to resurrect?

Some likeness cast from molten mass and forges' flame,
an ancient spell, the invocation of a name.
What wizardry might then produce just such a one,
returned from an uneasy rest, a Pharoah's son?

Consigned to everlasting life by holy men,
high priests who worshipped other gods in favor then.
And, who's to say a sacrifice made to appease
becomes diminished o'er the course of centuries?

The powers of such symbols lay in our belief,
as mortals we are well aware that life is brief,
so some will fashion myths and lore with utmost care,
that there might be an afterlife through tales we share.

Hi Doc...

"Consigned to everlasting life by holy men,
high priests who worshipped other gods in favor then.
And, who's to say a sacrifice made to appease
becomes diminished o'er the course of centuries?"

a very thought filled poem!
