listening silently, engrossed in a sacred moment, gazing intently, as a hummingbird sips sweet nectar encased within the small tubular opening of the delicate fuchsia
my mind questionning,
might the hummingbird hear an echo of its wingbeat, its sipping in surround sound, within that petaled opening?
so many things I do not know
but it's allright, for I am content there are mysteries of Life questions which may hold answers, yet I need not know, to appreciate
my senses thus awakened I sip my own nectar a sweet Raspberry wine, and smile.

What a glorious question Kacy. So many things we will never know. Wonderful poem.

Took the liberty of printing your poem and slipping it into the closed door jam, of the woman at work, who's son had died so unexpectedly a few months ago. I know she has a bird feeder outside her office window and just knew she would enjoy this too. Love comes with all sorts of sorrows but this little piece you wrote, gives all a chance to sit, read and reflect. She came by my desk with a tear in her eye and a thank you. I am passing her thanks on to you. We never know do we, when something we say or do reaches out to touch someone. You have touched many with your good heart and words. Darn, no wine in the house to double the enjoyment. You are something else. sincerely, martyjo

martyjo, your replies brought tears of thanks to my eyes. Thank you for sharing that with me. You just made my evening great, and it started rough. The water heater went kaput today so I didn't get my warm shower and I have to go to work tonight. Being creative after living 6 years in Alaska, I know about good old sponge baths with heated bowls of water. So I'll be on my way to work in a while in reasonably good shape. But the fact the poem helped brighten someone else's day is the greates reward of sharing poetry. Lady Sunshine, thanks for the photo and reply! I love those little hummers!

yes, and we always wonder. That's the real enjoyment of it all, because there's always something to ponder and to reflect on....Makes the inner side of life more complete....Just wondering about all the things there is to learn.
Very nice.

"but it's allright, for I am content there are mysteries of Life questions which may hold answers, yet I need not know, to appreciate" That stanza is so true; even in my young life I have already learned that it's best to appreciate what's around you and not to read too much into things and that's exactly what I think this poem was about. This was a very inspirational uplift to me.
