Mickey’s Loft Board House

Mickeys was always crowded
Sneered by the lack of money
You had to be desparate at Mickeys
Cos you must be in need

You didn't make your own way in Mickeys
You were the dregs for the clean
No one with anything stayed at Mickeys
People passed fast and clean

Always a home at Mickeys
Didn't matter who or what you were
Mickey supplied somewhere
And who cares what the world didn't see

You were always happy at Mickeys
Grub was there and not to be seen
You didn't wear a jacket at Mickeys
You just wore whatever was clean

Mickey had a loft sometime ago
He had his own ideas for the same
He never disputed your origin
To me Mickey you were all the same

Mickey has a piece of history
In a small place on a battered shore
Where the sea doesn't pretend it's miracles
But Mickey Loft's Boarding House for sure

Maybe I can as with old age

Just remember

Problem is

I haven't grown old

I've written something about New Fetter or Fetter Lane, but I was more interested in those days, in another beer.

How many journalists, with the strippergrams, want to explain it.

Makes you wonder about the criteria for a Government PR

Dave,

Felt like I was peeping through the windows!  I agree with Enchantress. Excellent imaginery and poem!  What I like about your poetry is that no one else writes about the same subject matter or has quite the same style.  I feel like I'm stepping into a different culture when I read your poetry.

  Enjoyed.

It came from my mother and my childhood

I think I've told the story of how I used to vanish (and you could do it then);  leave my name and address with a lot of Bus Inspectors taking in the common land at Barnes, the Museums in Kensington and everywhere I felt I could go and get away with it.

I spent so much time out from virtually when I called walk and be outside, that my mother used to keep saying, "What do you think this is, Mickey Lofts Boarding House".

It was finally blown and a good hiding, after a Bus Inspector recognised me in the street with my mother near Goldhawk Road in London and said 'what do you send them out on, initiative tests?"

My mother was Geordie and Mickey Lofts came from that.
