Beneath The Trees

Beneath the trees my true love lies
Beneath these gray and cloud cast skies
And I can not repress my cries
Or dam the tears that fill my eyes

I curse the heavens, curse the rain
Which mirrors my relentless pain
A cruel and steady, sad refrain
That tips the scales this side of sane

I mutter words not understood
Here in these leafless, winter woods
I’d trade him places if I could
I live, but it is he that should

I pray for death, insanely cry
"I should have been the one to die!"
My life was spared, please tell me why
Beneath the trees my true love lies

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Went straight to my heart, beautiful words you've penned down Ruth.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

This reminds me of an antebellum poem
with jasmime in the breeze.

Beautiful, Ruth.

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!

Sadly beautiful.  I'm sorry you are hurting.
