He awoke from the midnight areas of the mare,
Dark silken sheen stallion gleaming red eyes.
Spirited born independence whispered aloud,
Strutting liberty silhouetting moon haloes.

Virgin terrain is his horizon of wilderness.
Gigantic leap crossing, great voids of unknown.
The stars are his kingdom’s guiding lights,
Navigating him among arid lands of solitude.

Ghostly herd of she mares thundering backgrounds,
Manes flying free like wild-fired torrid mainsails
Floating over hill and valley as a fog of reckoning,
Swirling as dust clouds of spirited inner flight.

Camp among a crystal glowing serene dreamscape
Blanketing dreams upon the warmth of being.
Awake the stallion spirit sleeping in your heart.
Set sail with the land mating you to the soil.

Loved the last 2 lines, but loved the horses in the night even more!  I was watching in the shadows and almost forgot to breathe.
