Pretty Eyes
Big, pretty eyes open up to the world, not yet seeing things they will wish to forget, unaware of the happiness they will fail to remember, oblivious to the cruelty they haven't tolerated yet.
Young, pretty eyes laugh at the world, still not fully understanding of what they see, what a beautiful face, fair heart, carefree, tears in the well ripple pretty eyes seeing me.
Sad, pretty eyes see the world as it is, suffer many losses, still sparkle through the pain, unable to forget or to remember or believe, lonely, pretty eyes with a face and no name.
Tired, pretty eyes turn away from the world, the many who have looked and admired once will never know for certain just what pretty eyes have seen until the day they close forever.

Indeed, the eyes are the windows to the soul. A nicely done ballad from beginning to end. Thanks for sharing.

Wow she is right Dixie, put a tune to this? It reads like a beautiful song, just needs a bridge. Lovely, and boy do I love that graphic! Absolutely lovely presentation, words and art.

Yes, the eyes of a woman - they see so much. Enjoyed the read and the picture - thanks, Dixie.

To see what others see to feel their joy and pain Close thy eyes and heart pretend those teardrops are just the rain...~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ Paul

You too understand eyes. They are the gateway to one's soul...and say so much of a person and their moods.
Great write Dix..well done.

How do you constntly write things that come through so well, it seems that when I sit and try to write, nothing comes out, but when I'm driving, or upset, my sledgehammer style comes out, and I have to pull over and jot before I loose it, what's your secret? Inquiring minds want to know
