Suffering The Consequences

Whenever love is unrequited
There is hurt in the end
One heart will remain honest
Yet the other will pretend

Whilst one continues to give
The other will often take
It reveals the love was in vain
Creating lonely heartache

On all those trails to nowhere
Where hearts often yearn
Your love forever reaches out
Finding nothing in return

A mind fills with the memories
As you dreamily remember
Whilst often trying to re-ignite
That once glowing ember

You relate to all the sad songs
When realising the despair
Suffering in the consequences
From the unrequited affair
