Boxes of comic books,
drawers full of fright,
all wield their swords
because of the light.

The morning was different,
the sun's shield was bright,
but somehow with omen
because of the light.

With a foot on the floor,
another's delight,
is another's demise
because of the light.

Now slow down the clock,
foster a fight.
Now all bow your heads
and head towards the light.

Shred up the stale paper
of the old holy books,
that carried attention
look after look,
and close up the drawers
this fine, placid night,
seal off your subconsious,
with all of your might-
pull down the shades
to a minimal height,
try after try,
because of the light.

Goldenrose, thanks for taking the time to read!

I probably should have stated this to begin with, but instead of editing, I'm going to say it now.

This is based on the book "Snow In August" and was an assignment for my 10H English class.  However, any of it can be easily understood without reading the novel.  It's simply enhanced through knowing the plot of the aforementioned.

What a thoroughly enjoyable read. I am familiar with that book you mentioned, at least, with the storyline and characters, though I haven't read it yet. It's nice to be inspired, then create something new with the images you've encountered in reading another's story.
I look forward to reading more from your muse.

That last stanza was without a doubt my favorite.

Thanks, all.

I enjoyed writing the last stanza, especially.  It was required that I added to it for homework, and that's what I came up with.  I think the first four are blah.
