Don't Walk Under The Monkeybars!!! Back when we were kids nothing got in our way, barbed-wire fences or ditches, curfews or slippery pits of clay, interstates with speeding cars, dirt trails or steep jagged ridges, downed trees, monkeybar mountains, wild rapids underneath washed-out bridges... our little minds were full of possibilities, endless, so nothing was beyond our means, we never knew where we were going, all we knew is we had too many dreams, too much to learn to be still for long, too much to do to dare to give in to allow ourselves to see the risk that if we played, we may not win... we settled for no less than chaos, the concept of change was awesome, and from change, we grow up and into adults who take their dreams and toss'em, stopped by only a negative thought, a fear of failure, loss, or pain, afraid of making mistakes, why risk if there's nothing significant to gain? Kids go forth with instinct for today instead of waiting for another time for better chances that may not come they march to the beat of a different drum... till they grow into routine rhythm and rhyme, walking under monkeybars they used to climb. ~ |

Delightful. "Except ye be changed into childlikeness, ye shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven on earth!" Brother John's translation. |

" we settled for no less than chaos" I absolutely loved this line. It was just the perfect description of my childhood among my cousins!!! |

Dixie - What a fabulous write and this - "till they grow into routine rhythm and rhyme, walking under monkeybars they used to climb." makes me want to cry because it seems that I walked while still able to climb. |

The main thing I find with any poem is that it has a kick at the end When it is all about the journey, to read through and at times get lost or disappointed along the way. Maybe even give up in frustration and not continue to read the poem in full. Only to arrive at the end and discover that "kick". The place to stop and say to yourself, "maybe that poem was not so much a handful after all" . Then it is not to understand the poem, or to understand the poet. But to take in the feeling of the words and how they make you as a person feel after the journey. Those are my thoughts which express my feelings of reading this poem I see poems as an image, or an image of words. A picture all complete on the page, only not all pictures paint an attractive image to draw me in as a reader The truth is I hate poetry, while it gives me a foundation to write upon. a poet who cares |

Dixie, I really liked this one!! I am glad that I haven't lost the urge to climb things yet. The urge to do things that are just a little risky, is what keeps me well and alive :-) Maria -In a world of thoughts- |

Great advise Dixie, I climb them as much as I can with the grandkids - and always did. You have to grab from this life all it offers, and not let fear hold you back. Waste not a second ~ Carpe' Diem |
