I invite your corrections. THE SCAFFOLDING The foundation laid and the building rose From Mother Earth. As it grew higher still, The scaffolding climbed higher with great skill With guarding grilles and gargoyles in proud pose! This scaffolding won fame as dull eyes froze On its tall towering height. The world's nil Massed, spellbound by the temporary, till Some "dead" drooled; some swooned, some discarded clothes! This scaffolding gained glowing global fame And stretched its shallow shades to yo-yo's ward, As the new building bowed its head in shame! Dismantling drew nigh with beams and each board Piled high. The building torn down with acclaim, But the ole scaffolding: ... the fools' reward!! [This message has been edited by BROTHER JOHN (05-01-2006 03:50 AM).] |
