WISDOM December 1998 You need a few grey hairs to be wise, And four legs and a tail And you need to be able to whinny. My horse has good anodyne council for all issues, be they bad, mad, or sad. He exudes a wave of calm benevolence over all who fall under his spell and problems slither into perspective and dissipate. So, if you have a problem you can’t solve, simply get a mature, wise horse. - Owl On Friday 28 April 2006, 2 days ago, not an easy day for me, it was 4 years since Flicka died. I was his for 20½ years. |

"You need a few grey hairs to be wise, And four legs and a tail And you need to be able to whinny." ~ Well, I may not have four legs and a tail, but I do have a few grey hairs and can whinny! Does that make me half smart! On a more serious note, my sistah friend, my love and compassion are with you. I can well-imagine all the memories of Flicka that must be running through your mind around the anniversary of his passing. Sending my love to you and to Flicka's spirit that is given free rein in heaven's green pastures. Linda |

Happy giggles, Linda. Yes, that makes you very smart - for a human! And thank you so much for your compassionate understanding. I told Flicka about you when you were so ill - I still talk to him - so he will know exactly who you are when I pass the message on, and I know he will thank you for being so kind to his mommy. Yes, he is having a wonderful time in Heaven and he looks after all my friends and/or their animals when they arrive. Thank you for your wonderful warmth. Isn't it wonderful, two-derful, three-derful that Martie's operation went so well! By the way, Flicka will enjoy the joke about your being smart - especially the part about your being able to whinny! I wish I could, but my attempts are not even recognisable! - Owl |

A wise horse, and a friend like Owl! You make me smile. I love your thoughts. My sister has a horse. I think he has saved her many times. ~ Karen |

I don't have a horse. I have experienced this with my dog. Thank you for your insight. INclan |

I can feel your heart in this poem Diana and I know how you miss your dear friend. May the mantle of Flicka’s calm benevolence warm your shoulders as you remember him. |

Aren't you clever! I love horses although it's been years since I had mine or rode. Much enjoyed this, Owl! |

Thank you Klassy Lassy. I love your comments. Please give my regards to your sister, from one horse-person to another. You understand well, to say that your sister's horse has saved her many times. I am so glad that your sister's horse has been there for her. Please ask her to hug her horse from Auntie Di from South Africa. InClan, I am so glad that you have experienced this with your dog. Animals are such wonderful, wonderful creatures, so much easier to understand and communicate with than people, although there are so many good people in the world. Please give your dog a hug from me. Thank you Kate. Strange that you should mention warmth in the shoulders. That is where I feel his warmth the most. When I am most tense, that is where he relaxes me first. I have mentioned that his warmth in my shoulders in at least one poem, if not more, but it is unlikely that you would remember that as it wasn't recently that I have posted it/them here, if I have posted it/them here at all. I am enjoying your understanding of me - and even more your understanding of Flicka. And "the MANTLE of Flicka's calm benevolence" - I really like that. Thank you iliana. What a delight to discover that you are a horse-person! If I'm clever, I must have learnt it from Flicka! It is actually amazing how talking to him not only solved problems, but actually dissolved them. A twelve-year old many years ago, once said that he had an aura into which he drew people. Everybody (people and animals) adored him - not as much as I did, of course. - Owl |
