The politician man sitting in his office, Sending men off to war, the shame penetrating every orifice, He know what he does, he does it despite the shame, And every time someone questions his motives, he deflects the blame. Putting bills into practice, sending money to the wealthy, He knows his actions are unjust, they are inherently unhealthy. Still, the man does his work, earning his paycheck through his labors, Never once questioning the morality of his work, earning the lobbyists favor. He is bringing others a happy life, All he strives for is for the good of the community, With these modes of thought he deludes himself, Thus breaking societies unity. He imprisons men for smoking the earth, He lets men out of prison who have no worth, He sends men to their deaths, in a futile search, For prestige and wealth, Under the dirt, He enacts laws protecting the rich, He helps the impoverished (of course there’s a catch), He reinforces the impression, That the society in which he lives, Is experiencing spiritual recession, He lives in an entirely different dimension. His party is of no consequence, Nor his ideology, The question is whether he can mend society, And be as positive force towards you and me. We do not live in a democracy, Or a meritocracy, Nor a tyranny, Perhaps an oligarchy, Where all of our politician vultures, Subvert their constituents mores, By manipulating numbers, Ensuring their kind remain in power, Lets see what the future has in store… |

I have an idea for a poem entitled "The Ode to the Decider". :-) I agree with the theme of your work wholeheartedly. No doubt we are an oligarchy in my mind. |

That idea sounds awesome! I look forward to reading that. I hope you post the result here. |
