Birthday

I don’t mind,
last year’s newspaper
will do fine.

In fact,
I’d like that.

I will try....things are pretty desolate for me lately, and doubt that tomorrow will be any different. BUT -- I'm also sure it won't be different unless I make it be, so I'll try. I'll find a sunbeam somewhere, and make every freckle I can!

Dear Ratleader,

We know what last year's newspaper said.  Ah, we do not know what next year's newspaper will say and this is a blessing!

Happy Birthday and many more.

Heh-heh-heh...They're so cute they're almost hard to look at without picking them up....it's pretty much Jack Rabbit territory around here...but today I I'd take one!

All same though, I'd take last year's birthday over again -- or some other year's....

Today I'm going to dig out a stump (two, actually), yippee.... but then I'll plant a line of Gold Euonymous, and in spite of the work that will be a celebration because they're so beautiful, the leaves all splotched with dandelion yellow so they seem to be in bloom, year-round.

Yeah, that works....root out the old stump and let new life grow to beautify the place again. Maybe this year's not so bad after all.

Reminds me, Bro John....an editor of mine used to say "We could re-print the paper from this day last year, and unless somebody in it had died, nobody would know the difference -- including the people in the stories."

A nice old man, a cheerful cynic....but he had a point.

I was going to offer sympathy over having a chore list on your birthday... some days should just be exempt from the mundane! LOL

But your attitude's exemplary... so I'll just hope those stumps are easily removed... and that the golden yellow you plant today gives you years and years of beauty and joy. *S*

With any luck at all, those seven bushes will outlive me -- unless I get a wild hair and decide to chop 'em down like I did those two 40-year-old Hawthornes, and replace 'em with something else!

But yes...beautiful they are already.
