I saw an old friend, After many years; The scene looked like It was set in summer, Before his personal sun burned out. No! By looking close, I knew That it was April, Magnolia blooms Were background decorations On what seemed a rainy day, On finer study, saw the grey Was shock by re cognition caused. Not passing clouds aplay at games; It was the fall of pent emotions, Held inside for years retained That dulled the pictures gloss; The drops that smeared the paper, Was the fall of several tears. His smiling image, was repasted On my deep remembrance places, And my heart sang fondness songs To my dead friend, that lives in folds Between the albums open covers. |

This poem was pleasant to read, as it made me remember meetings with relatives. |

What a sad poem. I am so sorry for your loss of your friend. You express yourself well and even well enough to touch the readers' heart. I hope you are able to heal and one day remember the good times, rejoicing in the life s/he had and that you can find another friend to fill your void. May God bless you. Sheri Adams Jesus lives in my heart! He can in yours too!!! |

Backtash and Musicmaker Thank you for reading and your replies... My friend has been dead for ten years now, I have not thought of him for a long time, and the picture in the album reminded me of the loss. A person cries to purge the grief, A wonderful vent we humans have... Tears are balm that help heal loss. ---------ice ><> |

Lays close to the heart, this does... I recently received photos of close family members photos I had never seen before, only to be reminded that our resemblance is shared in eye-mirrors... and in this way, our love comes home again. Finding a poem from you on any given day are priceless treasures. Thank you. |

Ford...Photographs are so often the only tangible thing left of those who have passed on. I have many that are dear to me and over which I shed a tear now and then. |

And when we open the albums the years just fall away and it all seems like yesterday. A lovely write and when I'm strong I may brave my albums again. |

Oh my, I felt this deep in my soul.. Old photographs..old friends, relatives.. at times the memories flood back with just the glimpse of a picture. Thank you Ford.. I need to 'look up' some friends, and memories. Hugs~Nancy ~ Trace my body with your words, |

Another proof that we never really forget even if they seem unreachable :-) |
