In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2006-04-22 08:49 PM

We will never be that stone to build from:
music or storm
some forgotten secret

tonight the world
is a garden of whispers
with a wide mouth
naked        loud
I’ve covered my eyes and ears

{I said that because I wanted to
but           it has no meaning really}

maybe it will be clearer in a crease of blue light

But, I know each distance this moment will bring
each between that will settle      each--
superficial emotion around us

I should have told you long ago
how much I loved you

when we were real--

I can’t find those words right now –
or those feelings we once shared

            {you never forget the ache}
or the skin of water just out of sight --
the clock with no face; just random numbers
the fingers that fragmented the rainbow--

how weak I must be to accept this fate:
to allow him to steal my eyes
and blur the colors
I was not aware reality could
                  leave with such hurried steps

I wonder, would you laugh-- if I asked how
many bricks bare the name--
how many stolen roses are blocked by the wall

~

tonight the world
is a garden of whispers
with a wide mouth

I should have told you long ago
how much I loved you

          when we were real

the frame of what was

scattered now to  empty sky

touched by nothing

but sadness

~~**~~

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding

This poem had my emotions stirring. I related, but understood what you were saying. Most emotional read so far.

A very moving poem and filled with what I felt to be sadness.  If you are sad about losing a loved one either by death or by break up, I pray you find healing and comfort through writing and other methods of coping.  But always come here and post your thoughts and emotions because you do it very well.

This was truly beautiful. Your handling of the emotion, the sadness, the regrets shows a maturity of poetic voice. Very well done.

A beautiful though sad write and I hope all who read it will remember to say "I love you" when they feel it.

Darlin Lauren....your poetry is that stunning crease of blue light...
the one that the butterflies are drawn too...
and the moths...

How true..

wrenching..absorbing.

I weep silently with you.
