Solitary Ember

I catch an occasional glimpse of your face,
it comes like sun beaming down through
the canopy of the dim forest
piercing my heart with beauty of you

there's a moment of strange pain,
not the kind that tightens the fists
but a certain ache that's just enough
to let me know it still exists.

And some things just don't own reason
but yet I try to answer why
another evening bids farewell
dawn breaks, and still I cry.

What's left to do when love leaves
but to miss it and to remember,
to search for glimpses in the routines
as if trying to see by a solitary ember.

Sooner or later, I'd imagine
love and tears run dry-
another season passes by
still I love, still I cry,
waiting nigh
for the solitary ember to die.

You've done it again.

"And some things just don't own reason"

I can't explain how many times I, myself have tried to answer 'why'- but came up with a blank.  Nice write Miss Dixie

I really like these lines!!!!!!!!!

Dixie, I think this is a feeling that we are all too familar with. I just wish for your sake you didn't express it so well. Very beautifully put! :-)

Lovely, passing shadows.  I particularly love the images in the title,

"it comes like sun beaming down through
the canopy of the dim forest"

and the last line.

I am sorry you are still hurting, but you have painted a beautiful picture with your pain, that you could never have done, without understanding the core of that pain.

Quite right, Dixie, but it is that very missing and remembering that brings on the tears over and over again.  I'm not too sure that mine will ever dry but this is an excellent write - well done!
