The night was fast upon its trail And rushed into the coming dawn For he had oceans yet to sail And at the stroke of light was gone Those moments that are fast to flee Are ones that sometimes linger on And etch their portraits lovingly Upon the pallid edge of dawn My head was laid on manly skin In warming rhythms of his breath The night was innocent of sin And only God could know its depth A moment gone, a moment craved A loving memory sweetly kissed Where fleeting footprints have engraved A seaport’s early morning mist Elizabeth Santos |
