FAIRY TALE December 1998
Perhaps we all cling to our own favourite fairy tale.
For some, it is a dream of unrequited love that remains perfect because it is unsullied by reality;
For others, it is the search that counts, a need for a perpetual quest for the love we desire and which must be rejected before it is tested in case the quest ends in success;
For some, it is the languishing sense of loneliness in the refusal to compromise on a vision of impossible perfection;
For others, it is in poetically spurning the happiness one has - or two have - or could have, with a little work, until it is lost;
For yet others, it is the belief that we can stuff our mouths with all the cake on the plate which will magically replenish itself without our help.
When will we all realise that it is only imperfection that can heighten and lend character to perfection and only we can make that so?
The choice is a safe, lonely, passive dream or precarious, active reality.

Giggles, Steven. You ARE smart.
Thank you for calling me wise, Steven, (Debo by inference), Martie, Kate and Windwalker - and for the kind words of all of you. Wisdom is something I admire and respect tremendously and it is one of the things I aspire to most - and to be called wise, by so many people whom I admire and respect means a great deal to me.

Diana, what an observer you are, and I'm thinking you know exactly what steps to take to walk your path to fulfillment. I can't really add much to what the others have written, but I concur...it is wise and well-rounded in it's points, and you've penned it beautifully! Anyway one looks at love, it does not leave them where it finds them!

Thank you luminosity. I love provoking thought, probably mostly because of the pleasure I get out of Thinking - I see it as an activity - and I hope that others get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.
Thank you Karen for seeing me as an observer and my poem as wise, well-rounded and beautifully penned. I don't think many people would see my life as fulfilled - but I most certainly do. Like everyone else's, I would imagine, it hasn't been an easy one, but I squeeze every song and tear out of it. I love your succint truth of love not leaving us where it finds us.
Earth Angel, thank your for loving owls (I know you do, otherwise you wouldn't have said what you did!) and for that adorable, flattering graphic of me, and the cute Earth Angel and the flower - as well as the good wishes and the love and hugs. Lots to you too.
Thank you Ericc. I am glad you enjoyed it.
