death's child i sleep, curled up in my cradle of sorrow dreaming dreams of a lost tomorrow, i awaken, crying out for another and feel the icy embrace of my mother. she sings with a voice silenced by time, her unbeating heart pressed against mine. i look up into her loving face her eyes are a dark and empty place her fingers in my gossamer hair cold and boney, soothing my fear. i feel myself drifting, the sleep of the dead she lays me down in my satin lined bed and leaves me, curled up in my cradle of sorrow dreaming dreams of a lost tomorrow. |
