Buried Treasures

There is a heat of disappointment
that rises, brings a sweat to the brow
when missing the peacefulness
before night's close,
that words can bring.

I feel too deeply all things,
of life and death, and wish
for eyes to open upon mine,
releasing the prisoner from within.

Tripping over this life
has left inner bruises of betrayal,
yet pearls of wisdom,
that hang around my neck
to remind me...
not to pass that way ever again.

I feel too deeply all things,
of life and death, and wish
for eyes to open upon mine,
releasing the prisoner from within.

Playing certain words over and over,
rewinding those memories
that bring me simple pleasures
on those darkened days
when I feel unclaimed...

like today.

M

"I feel too deeply all things"

~ Can be the bane of a poet's existence! But then again, our heightened sensitivity can bring such joy!

"when I feel unclaimed...

like today."

~ Today you are experiencing a dark day in your poet's life. Tomorrow may it be a day of light and joy.

Hugging you,
Linda

When I feel this way - I go shopping! People are good to be around when one feels a tad lonely.  Great writing M.

I read this the other day, you know...
and it struck me that it was meant
for a moment that wasn't quite here
for me yet...

today the moment arrived.

Thank you, Maureen.
