I'm always out of line and one step behind. I take off slow and then grind to a halt. My future aint never been my best endeavor. That damn southern weather is at fault. When the Winter wind blows I don't want to go from the warm, cozy glow of the fire. When Summer is hot and muggy I get to feeling sluggy. Moving around only makes me tired. I don't hit a lick at all until after Spring thaw when the nightcrawlers crawl beneath the moon. And it's too hot for workin' When the crickets are a chirpin' and them bullfrogs are burpin' out a tune. Well don't you go and judge me. And don't you try to budge me. I don't want to be beckoned. Won't be bullied. Can't be bought. I'm not lazy... This I swear It's just geographical error. It's that damn southern weather thats at fault. All Winter long I keep my long-handles on. Come Spring I cut 'em off like an ol' ham rind. I always give thanks for them cool river banks and the fish that are yankin' on my line. Now just because I'm fishin' Doesn't mean I lack ambition. So don't you go 'round slanderin' my name. My future aint never been my best endeavor But it's that damn southern weather thats to blame. |
