To Catherine in Prayer

13 April 2006

I wish I was in Niagara
where I would hold you near
Pressing two bodies in a closeness
to embrace your woes to my heart

To hold you in arms as a shield
feeling your softness and warmth
In touching the gentleness of your hands
each fingertip a light to gather reign

Optical to a vision of eyes captured
as frame by frame, closeness does zoom
Not as much to be intimate
but kind in ways of care

If a wish was a prayer
then your heart does belong
This place of Niagara
a Catherine to the saints all told

“But to the saints that are in the earth,
and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.”
Psalms 16: 3 KJV

a poet who cares
