Walking along a misty shore
drenched by the restless sea
I thought of the many bitter experiences
life has seen fit to give me –
the harsh words, slammed doors, cold shoulders –
but then the sun broke through the clouds
and I found myself thinking of compassion:
Isn’t it true
that when things seem the farthest
they are the closest?

Seems the sea had something to add
to my ruminations:
“Compassion is for the outrageous
and the courageous
for it creates the unease of inner pain;
opens old wounds festering from birth;
creates confusion in relationships;
"demands" a complete change of mind
about most things.
Sorrow is it’s companion
but ever it is the sorrow of healing.

You will see this take place around you,
and feel it within you:
the word "Peace" will have power.
Old addictions and habits fade;
suppressed fears turn to courage;
hatreds will blend into love
and finally, you will know joy.

Compassion is
passion through detachment –
a "doing" thing.
Emptying. Freeing. Empowering.
It brings forth joy, evolves into love.”

I must add my "Wow" here as well because this is the most meaningful and helpful piece I've read for a long time.  I've been through most of what you write about and although there is love, joy I think has perhaps got waylaid on the rocky road of life.  Thank you for this!

  I appreciate the word 'compassion'.  It's connotations are so much more than sympathy or pity, but move to the power of love. How strange it is that we readily respond to the hurtful things with vengeance and wrath, yet respond so slowly to that which heals and promotes growth.  Compassion is strength and courage, and it is active.  The only thing I do not see is that compassion is detached.  For me, it is hands on blessing!

Allow me to add a WOW of my own WindWalker!
