You came and crossed that line
all wise and wonderful
like pocket aces, easy on the eyes.

I loved the way you walked,  and walked me through.

But reality is seen through double vision
and the poor souls you felt the need to appease
to find their way and see clearly.

And to think you had me once.

Your simple game plays out the same hand
time and time again
so much is lost to you and your dream lovers.

And real time doesn't add up.

Like a shot of Jack, straight up
you burn going down
and make for a hefty side bet.

Just maybe, a spade isn't really a spade.

But it didn't matter how long I held out
or how many times I called you
I couldn't win for losing.

Embarrassed

After sitting out for so long
and every breath that I've held
why I ever delt myself in.

Knowing it wouldn't make any difference.

  I get to be first!

this is real smooth, like a misty bourbon, and a salty finish...

I can't imagine you not making a difference in everything you touch BluesSerenade, not after reading this. It burned going down but made me smile when it hit bottom! :-)

As  Reb  wrote...very smooth~~

I haven't been able to stay up late enough to catch you on here anymore (either a sign of older age...or just plain tired these days)

hugs and love

Bluesy,
Felt like it was on the rocks to me. But then I'm not a drinker. Lot's of cool stuff in this write. I'll always love your writing. Hope all is well.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
