I wondered how to say goodbye
because I never say farewell
as I brushed my long brown hair
interspersed with grays and hues
of dyes in remnants...of blonde
and hollows underneath my eyes
write the stories I cannot
and lashes falling on my cheeks
are poetry that I will not
never ever tell
until I know that  I am free
of the weight of all these keys
unlocking all of these

choices

mock plurality

like lipsticks in a drawer...

I twist a tube and paint a ruse
circles on my cheeks
a clown
and paint my lips
in upside down
deciding that I am
a mime
because I never say farewell
I never know what's coming next
and so I offer silences
as pennies dropped into a well--
waiting for the sound of splash
and pulling up a bucketfull
of that which doesn't quench my will--
because I never say farewell--

I look for copper in my cup.

I'll give you all my penny wishes ...
in your name, I'll fill my wishers well.
I've heard the tears behind the silence
poetry whispers the truths you "lived to tell."

Rhymes speak volumes filling pages ...
but words alone cant heal a heart.
The keys that free are between the lines
you've always held them from the start.

If my mere words but could they would
wish to write you a "fair farewell."

"This medium is over-run with keyboard prophets ...
who believe their every word profound."

adieu, 'till we meet again
I too shall never say farewell
perhaps, fair thee well? 'till the morrow

and I love what JM wrote

Beautiful!  But I hate that you are hurting.  I must be thick, but I didn't understand about looking for copper in your cup.

Between the lines
the answers lay
that fill our cups
or so they say,
you know that
as well as me
for Gemini ladies
are gifted in see.

I'll give a penny
for your thinking cup
and wait until
a better day shows up.

You speak of feelings with a velvet touch serenity. You always drop copper into my cup. Thank you.

Thanks all for reading and as I told a friend--not to worry, people in New Orleans know better than to burn BRIDGES. So thus, no "farewell", y'see...

Karen...Poetry allows us to wear so many different disguises, we can be anyone we choose, and wish upon a cup of copper for dreams we want to live. Enjoyed my friend...Paul
