Little Amyrillis
sitting on the sill...
Do you feel the need for growth?
Do you think it is God's will?

Grow, you have, as you daily strive
to draw near to your Source of Life.
Do you know that you are alive?
Does growth cause inner strife?

Little Pine
amidst Wisteria...
Reaching upwards toward your Power...
Do the vines create hysteria?
Do you feel lesser when THEY flower?

Do you feel as though they are closing in?
Do they think of you as odd?
Do you wish you were as fast as them
in growing toward your God?

I too
seek my Source of Life...
and struggle to draw nearer.
I am amazed whenever I gaze
into this botanical mirror.

I too
feel closed in
amid the crushing madness.
Sometimes tales of another's trails
cause my heart to sink in sadness.
For it seems they have achieved the goal
while sluggishly on, I fight.
Flowers granted unto their souls...
That I must push aside to absorb the light.

But, all is at it ought to be.
Solidly based, we stand alone.
We have no need of vanities
to ensure us of a throne.
'Though at times it seems we fall behind...
If you look closer...you're sure to find
That those about are...clinging vines...
and climb only by holding to another kind.

Alone,
we grow stronger
Our path is our's.
Today,
the Amyrillis flowers.
