New Friends I hear you breathe, I see your hair. Look, you have a new friend, Now I’m here. The spark in your eyes, Just barely a glow. Look, you have a new friend, Now I’m here. The laugh in your voice, Just barely a whisper. Look, you have a new friend, Now I’m here. The spring in your step, Just barely a shuffle. Look, you have a new friend, Now I’m here. Of who you once were, Is just the shell. Look, you have a new friend, Now I’m here. I want to help, Take it away. Look, you have a new friend, Sorry mom, I can’t stay, But I love you anyway. We've all been there. How we deal with it determines our paths. |

Footnote: I managed for the first time in five years to go back to South Africa to visit my family. In late 2005 my mother was admitted to a home for people suffering from Alzheimers'. She is 67 years young. We've all been there. How we deal with it determines our paths. |

sorry to hear about your loss kitvb...mothers are way beyond special and when they go to the other side it leaves a huge void...my mom went "home" in 1996 and I still miss her a bunch...thankfully she visits me often while I sleep. |
