The Friend That I Forgot
~*Marge Tindal*~

Life refused to live him
beyond the timeline of Sunday
The friend that I forgot
was spread all over
the obit pages on Monday~

Reminding me
of long ago feats
that he accomplished
while I recalled his foolishness
in high school
before he was
who he became~

Now I find the time to marvel
at how well he spent his life
overcoming the strife
of being the class clown
small-town renown
for who he was
after he was
the friend that I forgot~

*In memory of Thomas E. Bevis*
~Classmate, DeLand High School~

Not really forgotten ...
but an inspired recall from another poetry site
that just happened to fall at this moment of Tom's passing~

~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~

A fitting tribute to someone who rose above his past. Very well done, Marge.

A fitting tribute Marge.  Sadly we do tend to forget schoolday friends.  These days we tend to move about so much and lose track.  I went to a classs reunion some years back and was amazed at how much so many of us had changed and was even more amazed as to how many had passed away.

Reflective write Marge.

A wonderful tribute to a long ago friend.

Margie girl darling one thought I'd give you a splash of pink. I know you didn't forget him you remember friends always, even when they are far, far away. Lovely poem and beautiful writing, almost as beautiful as your heart.

Marge,

a lovely tribute. Kind of humorous, which I'll bet this old friend would appreciate.

Hugs,

Corinne

Thank you dear people~

Yes, Cor ... Tommy would have like it ...
I actually did another version of this for
distribution to our classmates~
"The Friend I Could NOT Forget" ... was well-received among our friends that gathered to remember Tommy~

Time ... time ... continually spinning us around~
