The Blinders

I've spent all my fortunes
on band-aids and lies,
wasted all my days
afraid of goodbyes,
content with these blinders
I placed over my eyes.

It crippled me terribly
when they got ripped away,
to see I had nothing,
and nothing to say,
no one left there,
not even to pray.

No riches, no glamour,
farewells been said,
though none from youth heard,
none can speak to the dead,
the consequence of settling,
accepting to be led.

Next time I would know
not to follow you again,
sadly there is no second chance,
too many years have been,
a rude awakening to a war
lost, I didn't try to win

because I never knew it was going on
until the blinders were torn and gone.

Once we strip away the blinders, lies, and bandaids, we are down to the bare essentials. It is from ground zero that we begin building our lives up ~ and hopefully and with our eyes wide open!

Enjoy the view! It's springtime! ~ The time of new beginnings!

I enjoyed this one, too often we are blind to the internal wars we wage.

passing shadows, you don't have "nothing" - you have YOURSELF and WOW "yourself" seems a pretty good deal to me!  And "yourself" without him is the dawn of a new beginning.  Being happy without anyone, is the best preparation for being happy with another.

Warm wishes for the beginning of your happiness now - and for it to grow steadily in the future.

I must agree with the others....you have many
riches that you just are not aware exist..

A gift of expression is but one of them.
