Spring’s Debut
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

With the rising of the sap in spring,
buds burgeon on the trees.
Nature is awakening,
with the melt of winter freeze.

There’s an air of expectancy,
as life begins anew.
We bid farewell to winter months,
and welcome spring’s debut.

“We are borne of star dust,
and to the stars we shall one day return.”

G'day Linda.  Downunder we are heading into winter, though I can't say that where I live in Bargara, about four hundred kilometres north of Brisbane in Queensland, it gets all that cold.

Spring is indeed a marvellous time of year and a wonderful gift in life.  Enjoyed your reflections on it.

Yay, spring is finally here! An eager sense of expectancy has certainly been born... Now only if the temperature will rise above 40 F!

Hi, Donna! I know what you mean about Mother Nature being capricious this time of year. One morning I was sunning on the deck, and later that day we had a snowstorm!

Sending you some love and sunshine,

Greetings friend, in the Land Down Under! I suppose you are a few hundred kilometres south of where Hurricane Larry hit. It was amazing that there weren't any fatalities (at least as far as I had heard).

May your winter be full of wonder!

Be happy! Be well!

This poem reminds me of my Dad...he used to take me on March walks to look for "signs of spring"...You call it here a "debut", to me it is the same thing..

Now I live in maple country...all around my county there are fires under the pan...steam rising into the cold air, and finished syrup filling jugs..

"With the rising of the sap in spring"

There it is,another connection between your poem and my life....

I am so glad I saw this poem...
Thank you for it.

Good morning, Ford! I too, am pleased that you found your way to my poem. ~Kismet, perhaps?

Your Dad sounds like a fine Nature-loving man ~just like his son!

I grew up in northern Ontario and I have fond memories of making maple syrup and maple sugar candy. We had sugar maples on our property. I loved the smell of woodsmoke blended with the sweet smell of the sap boiling down.

I enjoyed reading your reply. Thank you for sharing your memories with me. If you could see me now, I have a very broad smile on my face!

May your spring be a joyous one and rife with awakenings and new beginnings!
