Lost Petals 12 January 2006 Wind-whirled pieces of me word-splashed petals mind-gathered into rain-healing and cosseted except for two gone with their monikers, promises and colour songs. - Owl |

Thanks, Angelheart. This was about losing, with a slip of a finger (not even into the Recycle Bin, nor anything from which it was recoverable) 6 poems that I wrote in one evening. I managed to re-write 4 of them either exactly (in some cases) or more or less, the way they were written, except for 2, whose titles, contents, or anything about them I couldn't remember at all. - Owl |

This poem is easy to relate I imagine that many a person that visits this site knows about the events you speak of. I remember one time I lost two poems in an updraft. Great write. Tomorrow comes for those who fear it. |

I just read your response to Angelheart and I commisserate. Been there, done that! Gosh that can be soooo frustrating. Now, I am constantly saving my poems as I write them. I don't have the memory that I used to have! ![]() ![]() EA |

Damn, sorry about that, and I just read how Hemingway had his suitcases stolen with the original manuscripts and carbon copies. I once lost an entire finished book. But was my fault, I only had one copy on disk and it reformatted itself when I got a new PC. Sometimes, its a good thing (even though painful) for old writes to go away, leaving room for the new view. |

Thank you Lady, if only I could remember what they were about or their titles (or close) or even how long they were, or what their mood was, I may have been able to resurrect them the way I did the others. Thank you poe. Yes, I’m sure you’re right. Did you get my email sending you your two that you lost as well? Strange that there were two in both cases – and so close upon each other! Thank you Earth Angel. Yep, but more frustrating even than losing them, was not remembering them. I had copied them into my collection and had re-generated the Table of Contents and had checked that they all appeared, and remembered more or less what order they were in and where the titles were on the Table of Contents page, but I couldn’t even remember whether they were the 3rd and 4th poem or the 5th and 6th of those written that night. Thank you littlewing. I hear what you say, but I have kept all of the ones I haven’t lost in a collection in date order. I actually lost my whole poetry folder, but I had updated it about 26 December and I had printed out everything that I had since written, except for some which were posted on Passions so I could get them back from there, so I was able to get everything back that I lost, except for some of the poems in some of the PIP poet folders in my PIP folder, but I can copy them again from PIP, if I spend some time online remembering which ones I lost. - Owl |

This reminded me of a time I had bought a dress so beautiful, and just like in the movies, I held it up to me and swirled, pretending I was already the belle of the ball... you bring out the nicest memories for me. (it was rose beige chiffon with receding pleats and it felt like heaven on my skin) ![]() I would have sworn it moved before I did. I'll shaddup now. ![]() But see what you do? ![]() |

and oh. I hadn't read the replies as I was lost in the moment. and smile? I'm glad I waited, too. Is it possible to be sympathetic to your loss while still whirling happy with my gain? nod I think it is... ![]() |

Wise move, froggy! Loved your swishing swirling rose beige chiffon memories, Serenity Blaze. Glad you replied before reading the responses, otherwise I wouldn't have enjoyed those memories of yours! And giggles about your second reply! Yes, I do believe it is! And thanks! - Owl |

I love this poem owl! Lovely way of describing an unhappy accident. It had to happen to me more than once before I got wise. Now I send hard copies to my parents, (they have no computer), and I email them to two other relatives, who print them out and folder them. This way, if something happens to me, my computer or my hard copies, my children will still be able to inherit the heart of me. smiles, constance |

Owl...I love how you took your loss, and made it into a new poem. How heartbreaking it is when a poem is gone completely. Very much enjoyed!! ![]() |
