In a box of family photographs I found a picture of you, but no one in the family knows your name; My mama used to tell me that you were her great aunt's youngest child; That you went half wild and totally insane. In the forest, picking wildflowers, is where you longed to stay. Folks would be sent out to bring you home. You'd take off in the mountains, sometimes staying out for days. I wish they could have just left you alone. I would have loved to have known you. Walk together hand in hand. I wish that I could let you know somebody understands. When they took you from the mountains they say you had to be restrained. It's the world thats gone plumb crazy Bambi girl, you're not to blame. Around the waist of your white lace dress, a darker sash is tied; With a cluster of wild flowers tucked in at your side. They've faded with the passing years. I can't tell what they are. Around your head and over each shoulder there flows a white lace scarf. In the picture you stand frozen around the age of seventeen. Waist length golden curls and eyes just like a fawn. A gentle child of nature, with brown-eyed-susans in your hair, and fear in your soul for a world that's almost gone. Your feet are bare and show the wear of the forests that you roamed. In the background stands the cabin that the other folks called home. You danced to the music of the rivers and the pines. When they took you from the mountains, they took away your mind. Now, you've all but been forgotten Generations hid the shame. The strongest love I've ever known and no one knows your name. But, I would have loved to have known you. Walk together hand in hand. I wish that I could let you know somebody understands. When they took you from the mountain, they say you had to be restrained. It's the world thats gone plumb crazy. Bambi girl, you're not to blame. |

You and Bambi were more than kin! ~ You were kindred spirits! I enjoy everything that you put to paper for it all comes from a wealth of wisdom, love, and grace. Hugs with love, Linda |

Uriah, beautiful story. Yes it does remind of Nell,I guess a lot of us saw that one and loved her. And now we have Bambi to love and take to heart. Thanks, martyjo For those who liked Nell, have any of you read: The Singing Creek Where The Willows Grow / The Rediscoverd Diary of Opal Whiteley by Benjamimn hoff. Supossedly she was a real person. I thought when I saw Nell that it was a take off of this book. Worth looking into.. best to all. martyjo |

Oh, Uriah, I love this. I would have loved to have met her and talked with her too and told her that yet another understands. I think she must have had a beautiful soul, free of the evil of most of us. - Owl |

Bambi sounds like a beautiful person, Uriah. Your words made me almost see her running through the forest, dancing with the little critters who live there. You painted a picture with words. Hugs, Ethel |
