If love is this life’s greatest hit I guess I’m a lousy shot but maybe my arrows are weighted with layers and layers of fear laid over the cracks of heartbreak experienced over the years. I’m sure I could go for lessons; aim it just so and let go, but housekeeping always comes first and a clean heart takes diligent work before it can shoot for the stars and bag for itself a sense of peace. So now it is clean and ready, I feel, but each thought brings up the dirt from under the covers of memory that speaks of dastardly deeds. It’s a long shot, you see, this waiting to be seen and believed as a pure beauty queen but love isn’t deflected off course by mere skin of past history unless, unless, it’s not really true and sure of its target market. Yeah, sure, it’s perceived as a grand rebirth but at the end of the day … I’m saved from shooting myself in the feet with those damn useless arrows of fear! Helen / 20 March 2006 |

Cody2 - Thank you for reading and for commenting. Sometimes we just don't see ourselves as worthy of more and that in itself is a ... sin! |

Honeybunch, Sure enjoyed your writing and responses. Guess I have to plead guilty to this one: "Sometimes we just don't see ourselves as worthy of more and that in itself is a ... sin!" Interesting thought, probably very true! Now to convince myself...that's another thing. We are our own worse critic! Hoping the arrows point to good things for you. miscellanea |

Misc. Two things in life - maybe the purpose of life - come back to knowing that "we are love" and then to help other people in that endeavour. I happen to know, you see, that unconditional love is the yardstick of our lives when everything else is taken away from us. The giving of it - not necessarily the receiving of it but too at the end of the day what one gives, one receives. That's the law of the universe Believe it or not. (And it wasn't too bad up there on the soapbox) Take care! Helen |

If love is this life’s greatest hit I guess I’m a lousy shot but maybe my arrows are weighted with layers and layers of fear laid over the cracks of heartbreak experienced over the years. ahhh huh, I hear ya hun...and share the same feelings that speaks of dastardly deeds. Have just been going thru this of late, can't sleep, angry, afraid, as the memories return....and so life like to... Helen, your a great lady...this poem was excellent, and should be published...enjoyed very very much and in this time alone, I've learned, I don't need a man in my life to be fulfilled, happy, successful, content...not at the cost of my identity, and I really really wish, our society would teach it's young girls this, and throw away those darn romance books... |

Helen, continue to fill yourself up with love for others ~ but most importantly, love YOURSELF! ~ There then will be no room left for fear! Loving one's self enables us to love others even more! Love you! Linda |

LeeJ, curiouse, and Linda. Thank you so much for your comments. We just never stop learning about life and ourselves - oh, for those who take the time, of course. And we all have to learn different things at different times or indeed in different lifetimes. |
