Fourteen past this kalends first day March-wind senators gather, Sharpening their gusty daggers; Spring, being a dumb Caesar Is unaware of the danger, After sitting content Weeks ahead of his time, Arrogant on his throne. But Brutus snow, and Cassius frost- This Ides, with brutal force, rise And remove the emperors cloak, Stabbing him with icicle knives, And winter returns To rule over Rome. (A little late, written March 15, 2006 but couldn't post because the forums were down) |

Beware the ides! Yes, it has been a month of cold daggers here as well. I've missed you, Ford. Good to read you today. |

As I clicked on this poem, my "pet" squirrel trampled across the roof-top, flung itself out onto the branch [that he always hopes is green, and not dead...] and then sits, staring in the window, at the woman who would read such poetry. This Ides may have flown by, but your words will always be everlasting...and always welcome. Write on! |

It's so good to see your poetry again, Ford! This one is interesting...loved the imagery and personification! |

"And winter returns To rule over Rome." And winter won't seem to go away. Outstanding poem. |

Thank You, everyone, for reading, and your kind replies... I have not writen much, nor had quality computer time in the last month...Our new lab puppy gets up at 5 a.m. and insists on attention or it will chew down the house. That time frame is the one I write in, and also make replies..she is getting better now... so I will be here more often. It has been cold here (under 30 for daytime highs) for the last week....before that, it was spring 50 and 60s for a week or so... This poem came to mind because of that, and also that Caesar was killed on the Ides of March. -^-^-^-^- ice ><> |
