background info: Wafa means loyalty in Arabic. This write, Wafa's Words, is about contrasting POV's and interpretations of the same reality. Wafa Sultan, (Syrian born, resident of Los Angeles now) a Psychologist, now in hiding because she spoke out against Islam, contrasted with Wafa Idris, Palestinian suicide bomber, who was not so much an activist as she was a frustrated human who snapped. (MHO) Wafa Sultan quote: Her loyalty is to the human race in general, rather than the faith she grew up believing in as a child and young woman in Syria. And sadly, from another Wafa: Wafa Idris, a 28 year old Palestinian woman. Martyred 2002...she was a recent college graduate, Red Cross volunteer, sworn to save lives. This Wafa left no words for us to read, but her final act speaks volumes. Eulogized as the first Muslim female suicide bomber, she sported a backpack filled with explosives rather than tools of learning, blowing up an innocent elderly Israeli man and herself on Haifa Road, and wounding many others, including a twelve year old American boy. * What price to pay for loyalty? What price to pay for a name? what price to pay for a Faith? What price to pay to stand up and say, enough is enough, when it's already too much? Is there no 'wafa' to humanity? |

Even the moon has a light and a dark side. Your PVOs always provoke thought. Love & Light, Linda |
