FORTY SMEARS 20 November 2000 Shivering and empty, I watched my sodden thoughts swish slowly to and fro across the windscreen of my rain-grey day. The most saturated slithered to the road below to an unknown fate of drowning, or being squished or picked up by some colder, wetter and hungrier frame than I. The rest clung perilously to my single wiper with silly expressions on their pathetic little faces. New skies and mellow sun were banished to myths and legends of a time long since washed pale and drear, and the rain rained on and the rain rained on and no, Noah didn’t send a helicopter. - Owl [This message has been edited by Balladeer (03-21-2006 09:48 PM).] |

LOL I REALLY enjoyed this. I saw, so clearly, the silly pathetic faces. Wonderful ! Next time the rains come... Remind yourself that Noah means REST. Enter into that ark of Rest...and ride above the flood. No need to steer the vessel. No rudder is even in the plan. Just float...and you will reach a higher plane. ((( OwlSA ))) |

It's a wonderful, very telling poem Diana. I hope the sun is shining on you today. |

Thank you Uriah. Your response brought me giggles, smiles and comfort. Thank you Kate. Actually although it rained last night and it hasn't made up its mind whether the sun is going to come out today in a slightly cloud-streaked blue sky, or whether it is going to be rainy and grey, but metaphorically the sun is shining (sorta), so my thoughts' little faces are smiling today, albeit with effort. |

Smiling at you, Diana. The sun is always shining...somewhere. We have been so dry in our neck of the woods, that I'm relishing my gray day. Hopefully the next few days will remain gray, AND WET, so that we won't worry about crops, and harvest, and all of the things that come with a drought. But I giggled at the smeary faces... |

"and the rain rained on and the rain rained on" ~ The drone and tone of your words had a soporific effect on me. I enjoy the lull of a gray, dull day once in awhile. It's so grounding ~ and I need that because I have a tendency to float off into the ethers! "and no, Noah didn’t send a helicopter." ~ I also enjoyed your twist of humour at the end! Hugs with love, Linda |
